Healthcare Champions

Lestonnac Free Clinic is fortunate to have hundreds of doctors, dentists and students volunteer their time, energy and talents to help the underserved. While every volunteer contributes to the clinic's success the following individuals have consistently gone above and beyond and truly embody the clinic's mission.

2016 Physician of the Year, Dr. Ana Karina Melgar

Lestonnac Free Clinic’s medical clinic has existed for 37 years because hundreds of providers believe that the world can be a better place if people are healthy. Dr. Melgar, who has been a part of the Clinic since July 2015, has seen over 1,040 patients at the Orange and Garden Grove locations. She has also resurrected the clinic's Quality Improvement Committee, and started the 'Big Deal' program which is focused on curbing depression amongst miniorities. She is a true inspiration to the clinic’s staff and reminds us that we can make a difference, one person at a time.

2016 Dentist of the YearDr. Mike Hanrahan

Staff describe this dentist as “kind, compassionate and very friendly”. Since December 2008 Dr. Hanrahan has treated 1,548 patients through 2,362 encounters and is one of the reasons the clinic's dental program, and its health fairs have been so successful. Dr. Hanrahan works tirelessly to ensure the disadvantaged have access to dental care, and is willing to take on any case regardless of its complexity. Thank you for giving our patients a reason to smile again!

2016 Employee of the Year, Ms. Adrianna Pauda

There are very few people that can remain positive and updeat every day, however Adrianna can and the clinic is lucky to call her one of its own. Adrianna is a three-year clinic veteran and no matter if she is on the phone with a lab, coordinating patient surgeries or working 1:1 with a patient, she always has a smile. Adrianna embodys the clinic's mission and works hard to serve those in greatest need.

2016 Student Volunteer of the Year, Mr. Jason Lopez

Jason has been volunteering at the clinic since April 2014. Not only has he consistently shown his clinical competency, he has demonstrated great compassion and warmth to patients. Our community is healthier and our patients are happier because of individuals like Jason. The staff is extremely grateful for his years of service and look forward to hearing about all the lives he changes as a Physician Assistant.
