Glasses

Lestonnac’s Eye Care program provides vision testing to low-income and uninsured patients. Annual vision screenings track eye health and in turn new prescription glasses may be provided should their vision degrade. With the purchase of a new optical edger, we can make glasses in-house in 15 minutes! Patients can now receive their exam and glasses the same day.

In 2022, Lestonnac provided 1,822 pairs of prescription glasses, free of charge.

Retinopathy Screening

With almost 50% of Lestonnac patients diagnosed with diabetes, we pay special attention to the many complications associated with that condition. Retinopathy is the most common diabetic eye disease and is the leading cause of blindness. Our program ensures diabetic patients receive annual screenings to detect early signs of retinopathy and receive appropriate treatment. Each month we partner with Retina Global to provide retinopathy diagnosis and treatment.

In 2022, Lestonnac provided 813 retinopathy exams, free of charge.

Ophthalmology

Our volunteer ophthalmologists administer in depth eye exams to provide treatment and prevent vision related diseases such as retinopathy, glaucoma, and cataracts. With early detection of these diseases, a patient’s vision may be preserved.

In 2022, Lestonnac provided 668 ophthalmology visits, free of charge.
