General Volunteer FAQs

Do you take licensed volunteers?

At this time we are unable to accommodate volunteers with certifications (i.e. EMT, phlebotomist, CNA, LVN). You are still welcome to volunteer but will not be able to operate within your certification scope.

Can I volunteer in more than one area?

Yes! Upon completing the Volunteer Application, you will be able to indicate other areas of interest. We encourage volunteers to use their personal hobbies and skills to find new ways to serve Lestonnac patients.

Letters of Recommendation?

Letters are written on a case by case basis, determinant on the volunteers time and the relationships built during their time volunteering. Letters are not awarded based on time volunteering or number of hours accrued.

What is the wait time for volunteering?

This truly depends on the time of year and area interested in. Medical being the most sought after and competitive typically only admits volunteers 2-3 times per year. Other areas operate on a rolling basis.

Do I need experience to volunteer?

No! Volunteering is open to all in the community. We will provide necessary training prior to you beginning. We look for adaptable people with a passion to serve the underserved

What costs are related to the program?

There is no cost in order to join the program, but you are responsible for the costs for purchasing scrubs and maintaining yearly TB tests. Dental volunteers may be asked to pay for basic infection control training (2 hours) if you have not completed this training previously.
